Services

Together we’re going to help those most vulnerable in our community have a higher quality of life by providing warmer, drier and healthier homes. The team at TradeBank are well versed in this area and we have already helped many families, often with very sick children living in poor housing conditions, get back on their feet by providing healthier homes and now you can help too!

  • TradeBank will use our community reach to help create a pathway where Tradies (housing related) can donate their time/labour and where those in the know (Social agencies, Community groups and Community charities) are encouraged to connect with us and let us know the needs of their most vulnerable.
  • For all you willing Tradies, we are so thankful you are volunteering your time and skills to help those most vulnerable in the community with their housing related repairs. Volunteering is a great way to give back to your community and is a fantastic opportunity for you to meet like-minded tradespeople and others who are passionate about caring for those less fortunate. It’s a wonderful way to combine your unique skills with helping others.
  • The good news is you can volunteer any housing related skill and we take over from there as we allocate you a job with the family/whanau who need exactly what you can offer.
  • For all those Community groups, Community charities and Social agencies, who are working with us, we thank you for being as passionate and caring as we are that every family in New Zealand should have live in a warm, dry and healthy home.

We visit hundreds of homes, identifying needs and providing advice on home performance (how to create a warm, dry, healthy home), but through our vast experience we know our advice takes a back seat until vital maintenance work can be completed (plumbing, electrical, roof, building work etc).

We’re so thrilled, pumped and excited to create this platform, where we can connect Tradies, Community groups and Businesses, who want to help others and who are willing to give their time, energy and skills to help with vital repairs and maintenance for those vulnerable in our community.

  • By volunteering your time and skills to help others in our community we really do salute you (and applaud you too!). We will be your friendly Project Managers who will identify the need, assign the task and handle all the admin and co-ordination or if you prefer, we'll identify the need and provide your reliable team with all the details to follow up - we know you have great systems already in place!

  • We see many homes that need minor repairs, and if these are done, the home would be so much better off. The needs range from installing or fixing bathroom and kitchen ventilation, fixing windows, window joinery, draft stopping, fixing rotten floor boards, fixing guttering and drainage and fixing leaks in the roof and leaks in plumbing, to fixing poor and unsafe wiring, rotten steps, rotten shower cubicles and broken windows.

  • So all you plumbers, “sparkies”, roofers, drain layer and builder types are much needed and very much appreciated. In our capacity as Sustainability Options we have visited over 2000 homes since 2012 so we are very aware of the need and the urgency. If you’re unsure if this is for you please know that the tradespeople we already work with get a real kick out of helping others. We really don’t mind how much time you can offer because we have a real art of making the best of what we get. It’s fair to say that volunteering and “repairing it forward” is good for everyone involved, including you.

  • What we’ve created and what we will continue to build is a growing database full of professional, qualified, compassionate tradespeople who are active and willing to help out in the community. All referrals to Trade Bank come from Community Organisations, Social Agencies and Charities registered with TradeBank. All referrals are qualified by a home assessment from TradeBank staff.

  • Thanks so much for volunteering and for paying it forward. We have a number of other bright ideas up our sleeve where we can help you too so if you are a good keen man or woman, please make contact with TradeBank, and join with many others who are wanting to make a positive difference with the skills they have.

We connect and engage with individuals, community organisations as well as health and housing agencies, to ensure that those most vulnerable get the help and assistance they need.

Over the past 12 months, we've visited hundreds of homes, 88 have had very sick children. The homes have been cold, damp and unhealthy. Of the 88 homes, 51 have required a range of minor repairs, 56 have required curtains. We know that you are probably well aware of this problem and that is why collectively we can make a world of difference.

Of the 51 homes (58%) that required minor repairs we have been able to help 21 with these. 30 homes have had no help and of the 21 we've helped, minor repairs are still outstanding.

And that is why TRADEBANK has been established. We want to help as many families/whanau as we possibly can and with your help we can.

We want to encourage you to get in touch and register so we can match those most vulnerable with some amazing tradespeople in our community willing and able to volunteer their time and energy to work on a wide range of housing repairs.

The benefits of working with you is we can reach a wider group of people who need all of us the most. We believe by working together on a number of projects that are housing related we will be making a real difference by improving the quality of life for others in our community. Our approach has been born out of necessity and we’re willing and able to collectively get the job done.

We’re strongly encouraging community organisations to get in touch, register with us, and let us know what your needs are. From there Trade Bank takes over and does what it does best; takes action. Contact us here and we’ll start work on it straight away
